Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: The Lucknow–New Delhi Shatabdi Express was cancelled today due to severe fog and extremely low visibility, marking significant disruption for passengers traveling between major cities. The cancellation comes after the high-speed train had been operating with continuous delays for the past two weeks amid dense winter fog, railway officials confirmed.
The Shatabdi Express from New Delhi failed to depart this morning, prompting the railways to also cancel its return service from Lucknow to ensure safety. Commuters experienced increased inconvenience as mobile apps and real-time status trackers were reportedly unresponsive during peak disruption hours.
In addition to the train cancellation, several flights between Lucknow and Delhi were also cancelled due to the same foggy conditions, worsening travel chaos at the city’s airport. The persistent fog has led to extended delays across many train services and flight operations, affecting thousands of passengers.
Railway officials urge travelers to check real-time train status and weather advisories before travel, as fog continues to impact rail and air transport in Northern India.
