Folk Singer Neha Singh Rathore Taken into Police Custody at Hazratganj, Statement Not Recorded Due to Nightfall

Folk singer Neha Singh Rathore was taken into police custody at Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow on Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation into a case registered against her over controversial social media posts related to the Pahalgam terror attack.

Accompanied by her husband, Neha reached the station to record her statement, but officials could not complete the process because it was already late in the evening. She was held briefly before being released, with authorities indicating she may be called again for further questioning.

The FIR, filed in April at Hazratganj, stems from allegations that her online comments were “objectionable” and potentially harmful to national unity, prompting police action under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police officials clarified that she was summoned for routine questioning and denied reports of her arrest, stating her presence was to record her statement in connection with the case.
